Meeting was called to order at 1:00 by President Carol Tackett.
Five guests were introduced.
Approximately 45 members and guests were present.
Carol reported for Kathye Hitt that our funds are ahead by $438.
Gail Spencer reported that membership stands at 107.
Bette Covington reported that Placewares is looking for someone to help make pillow covers for the pillows they sell. This would be nice way to make a little extra money!
Gail Simms stated that future programs will be listed on the web site.
Janet Windsor talked about upcoming programs this fall. Mary Mashuto s offering a morning class on Oct. 20. The cost is $40. In November, Iris Lorenze-Fife is giving her class on no- math drafting. The cost is $60. There are openings for both classes.
Polly Dakin has 21 comfort quilts ready for distribution and doesnot need more at this time. She suggested we work, instead, on the challenge and on the holiday quilts.
Donna Blum talked about the final instructions for the Mystery Quilt.
Anita Kaplan discussed the Retreat at Vicchy Springs in 2008. Thereare 5 spaces left.
Carol Tackett discussed the Festival of Trees which is an Art Centerfund raiser. It will also be a fund raiser for PPQG. MarilynLimbaugh is co-chair. Members do not need to staff the booth but are being asked to make items for sale. Suggestions were made as to what those items could be and a flyer was distributed. Workshops will be scheduled for this purpose. The event occurs over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Polly Dakin passed out a brochure about the Challenge. The topic is "Flights of Fantasy". The requirement is that a 5-inch square of a specified fabric be used in some manner, somewhere in the quilt.
Carol Tackett reported that she is holding another Trading Card event in November.
Lola De Longorio reported on the 2007 AIR quilt. This year the entire Guild will be asked to contribute a block based on the instructions which were on display.. The blocks will be due at the Christmas luncheon.
Laura Hamilton and Lola DeLongorio were thanked for the cookies/coffee.
Laura Hamilton won the name tag drawing.
There were 9 show and tell quilts.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 and was followed by a presentation by Rosemary Eichorn.
