General Meeting
April 18 , 2008

Meeting called  to order by President Barbara Dunsmoor at 1:00 PM.

 46 members and 2 guests were present.

Treasurer: Kalynn Oleson reported $20,280.56 in the bank. She handed out copies of  PPQG 2008 Budget by Month and the Monthly TreasurerŐs Report, March 31 2008.

Studio Tour: The tour will take place Friday May 16 after the business meeting upstairs. We will go to the following studios: Austin, Sears, Tackett/Windsor, Dunsmoor and Lorenz-Fife.

Program: Lola DeLongoria is a new member of the program committee.

Membership: Chris Smith, Margie Benker, Sue Brawner are new members.

Newsletter: Janet Windsor is the new newsletter editor.

Library: Today donated books are being silent auctioned . The highest bid for each book at the end of the meeting will get the book.

Hospitality: WeŐre reminded us to keep bringing our cookies.

Festival of Trees: The chair reminded us the best sellers at the festival were placemat and napkin sets, wall hanging, and kids quilts. She is thinking about staging mini workshops to work on items to sell. Any ideas for fund-raising items to make are welcome.

2009 Quilt Challenge: The chair is Gail Sims. The date is April 11. We will share our show with the Woodworkers group.

Comfort Quilts:  The next workshop is in June.

Quilts of Valor: We are encouraged to continue making Quilts of Valor.  A national group coordinates quilts for returning wounded soldiers. PPQG members make tops and Marilyn Limbaugh will send them to a quilter. Alternatively, anyone may choose to complete her top into a finished quilt.  Please include a fabric bag to hold the quilt, envelope style with a closure, pillowcase style with a drawstring, or any other practical bag. The bag may match the quilt, but itŐs not necessary.

Block of the Month: The pattern is available. ItŐs 12Ó finished size with 3 colors. The drawing is in June.

Art in the Redwoods: The raffle quilt is being worked on. The fabric was hand-dyed in fall colors and the pieces are ready to be sewn together.

Announcements:

The Legacy, second-hand retail sales,  at 781 Gravenstein Hwy. in Sebastopol was brought up as a great place to find bargains.

Nametag Raffle won by: Lola DeLongoria. President Dunsmoor explained that if you wear your nametag to the meeting you qualify for a raffle ticket.

Show and Tell consisted of a raffle quilt, Comfort quilts, personal quilts, and items created in Sue BennerŐs workshop on Wednesday and Thursday.

Meeting adjourned at 1:20 PM.

The program speaker Sue Benner was introduced. Her lecture was titled ŇA Spacey Odyssey.Ó
