General Meeting

 June 20, 2008

Meeting called  to order by President Barbara Dunsmoor at 1:05 P.M

Barbara opened the meeting by thanking all who came to the Comfort Quilt workshop today. She also thanked the hospitality committee for lunch.

Treasurer: Income for the month was $530.00; outgo was $820.12; balance in the treasury is $20,280.12.

Continuing Education: The committee is finalizing 2009.

Membership: No new members.

Newsletter: July 23 is the deadline. Please e-mail news to Janet Windsor.

Library: Two new Ricky Tims books are available.

Hospitality: Plans are to set up a link on PPQG’s web site to sign up to bring goodies to meetings.

Festival of Trees: Fabric and ideas were displayed.

Comfort Quilts: Three quilts were given away last month. One quilt was given away today. Labels and batting are available. Thanks to everyone who has made quilts.

Quilts of Valor: Plans are to give away this year’s quilts after Christmas. Details will be in the newsletter. Marva (at the Loft) will be getting patriotic fabric.

Art in the Redwoods: The raffle quilt is being worked on. A part of the quilt top was displayed.

Fanny Basket: There is a lot of fabric available. Mary Austin showed a quilt made from already cut squares from the fanny basket.

Sewing Studio Tour: Fifteen people took the PPQG Member Studio Tour in May. We may have a tour every other year.

Announcements: (1) TSR “Soundings” featured PPQG in an article by Laurie Mueller. (2) Tomorrow from 1-3 P.M. GAC will have an extravaganza trunk show of hand-made beads.

July Picnic: The July 25th meeting (note the date change to the fourth Friday) will be a picnic on the GAC picnic grounds from noon to 4 P.M. The Guild will supply lettuce, bread, and drinks. Everyone is asked to bring something you love to see in a salad. We’ll create a salad bar. Also, bring a small dessert. We will play QUILTO. Players need to bring 4 fat quarters and $5.00 for  the whole afternoon.

After Show and Tell, the meeting was adjourned at 1:25 P.M

Later in the afternoon, President Dunsmoor announced "Go Green" as the 2009 PPQG Quilt Challenge theme.
