PPQG GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
March 20, 2009

President Jan Carter called the meeting to order at 1:04 p.m. and made introductory remarks, thanking the upcoming speaker, introducing guests, and mentioning the fabric swap and donations to the Threads of Life quilters

Committee Reports:

Treasurer:  Kalynn Oleson reported that we now have a balance of $24,934.50

Executive Committee:  Barbara Dunsmoor reported on the recent meeting of the committee, which had voted support to the Anderson Valley quilters in the amount of $500, providing new machines, fabric, and batting.  It also had approved the purchase of four new quilt stands to replace the old and fading ones.

Programs:  Sue Arnold reported on various upcoming workshops.

Continuing Education:  Mary Austin described the results of an informal survey which asked the membership what kinds of classes they might like to see included.

AIR Quilt:  Gail Sims and Bonnie Toy showed the nearly-completed quilt, which needs only binding at this point.

Challenge:  Gail Sims said that quilts are due April 4th, it will be hung on April 7th, and that opening will be April 11th.

Comfort Quilts:  Polly Dakin reported that we have a goodly amount of quilts.

Quilts of Valor:  Marilyn Limbaugh said that we would present the quilts the first week in May, that she has 18 on hand and promises of several more, and urged members to keep making them.  She also showed some of her President’s squares and exhorted people to keep them coming.

Membership:  Gail Spencer reported that we now have 106 paid members and that basically, we are DONE.

Hospitality:  Lola said that we need cookies every month and that it’s possible to sign up on the website.  Jan mentioned that we still need a chairman for the Hospitality Committee.

Newsletter:  Janet Windsor said the deadline is the 25th of March.  She also reported on the purchase of sewing machines for the Anderson Valley quilters.

Website:  Bonnie Toy said she was glad to be here!

Library:  Anna Hines showed some new acquisitions.

Name Tag Raffle:  It was won by Bev Sloane.

 

SHOW AND TELL – Quilts were shown (or told of) by Gail Spencer, Lola DeLongoria, Colleen Jackman, Margaret Taylor, Sharon Malachowski, Claire McPherson, and Jan Carter.

Bonnie Toy raised the issue of privacy on the website and the possibility of using a password in order to heighten security.

Sue Arnold then introduced the speaker, Rebecca Rohrkaste.
