GUILD GLIMMERs
By Jeri Taylor
Over twenty intrepid seamstresses showed up for the Comfort
Quilt Workshop on October 11. Rotary
cutters sliced, sewing machines whirred, and by the end of the
day there were many nearly-completed quilts to add to our now
depleted stash.
Our new members from Fort Bragg,
Ellen Anderson and Mary Ellen Blohm, added greatly to the
workshop by arriving with many already-pieced quilt tops in bold
colors and fanciful designs. Willing
hands worked to sandwich them, giving
us a great head start on rebuilding our supply.
Many thanks to all those who showed up to contribute to the
best thing we do, and a thank you in advance to those
who still plan to make a quilt at home. When youve
finished, bring them to the
November meeting or contact Jo Dillon, 785-2945.
Remember what impact these quilts have on the lives of those
less fortunate than we.

HELP!!!!!!!!
Now that I have your attention, Ill make this short and
sweet: Its time for
someone to volunteer to chair AIR Raffle Quilt 2003. Ask Miriam
Littlejohn, Elizabeth Beckett, Barbara McNulty, or any of the
others who have created our raffle quilts of the past, about the
satisfaction this project brings.
Their smiles tell me all I need to know. The 2003 quilt needs to be
finished and ready for showing by May, so time is of the essence!
Heres your chance to go with a great inspiration, shop
for fabric, and work with your team to piece a real prizewinner: the prize goes to the student
who walks away with a scholarship made possible by raffle
tickets. Each of us who
helps with the quilting shares in that success, and continues
this important tradition.
So please DO all speak at once!
Be the first to call me at 785-3844, or Linda Warnock at
785-3668, and just say yes.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS
Reserve December 13th for our traditional no fuss
holiday luncheon! We will
have a potluck lunch, a unique fabric exchange, a special show

friends. The December Bits
& Pieces will have the details.
Call Anita, 785-3671, if you would like to help her set the
tables.
A great class in January! Judy
Bianchi from Healdsburg will teach Interlocking
Circles. In this fun
class (for all levels), each person will create a unique quilt. Emphasis will be on curved
piecing. By the end of the
class (10-4 Thursday, January 16) you will be well on your way to
a completed quilt at 24 by 30 a perfect size
for a wall hanging. See how quickly something beautiful can come
together, and learn an exciting new technique. Judy is a great teacher and
this is a terrific project and the cost is a bargain: $25.00! Bring your check to the
November meeting or contact Connie Seale, 785-3545
In February, Anita Kaplan will teach a new class called
Loosening Up, Three Out-of-the-Box Ways to Design a
Quilt. She will introduce exercises designed to jump start
your design process and you will have a chance to work through
each concept. The class will show that unique, creative quilts
are within the reach of every quilter. It will be given the day
of the Guild meeting, Friday, Februry 21st, before the guild
meeting from 9:30 until noon. There will be no charge for the
class, but please sign up by email or phone to Connie Seale,
785-3545. We will need to
have a head count for materials which will be distributed, and to
receive the supplies list.
Bring an indoor picnic lunch. We can eat while sharing ideas
before the Guild business meeting. There will be no other speaker
in February.

Founder and owner of Mary Strickler's Quilt, curator of the renowned Esprit Quilt Collection, head researcher on important quilt books and films, consultant to several museum and corporate quilt collections, Julie has seen them all! CHALLENGE
QUILT SHOW
by Elizabeth Beckett
and Naida Mauthe
The theme is "It's the Little Things" but we
do NOT mean you should make just little quilts!. The challenge is to find
"the little things" that you want to express in a
quilt. And arent there
lots and lots of those?
Take a moment and see what comes to mind:
It's the Little
Things......that make me happy."
"It's the Little
Things....that sparkle the night."
"It's the Little
Things.......on the other side of the leaf....a Lady-bug?"
It could be a thimble
made large, or a baby elephant made small!
Start Now! The show date,
April 11th, 2003, will be here before you know it!

QUILTERS!
Interested in a new venue for your quilts? Hang one in the foyer of
Gualala Arts for one week starting December 5. These quilts will be on
display during the Madrigal Dinners, December 7 and 8. If you have a quilt you wish
to hang, bring it to the November guild meeting or contact Mary
