Comfort Quilts
All guild members are invited to participate in our Comfort Quilts project. Guild members make quilts to be given to members of the community who need a little special care and attention. The quilts are distributed throughout the year as needed.
Any quilt is a welcome contribution, although the minimum size is 42x54 - crib size. But lapquilts and larger are much appreciated. The guild provides batting and a label. The "fanny basket" is a great resource, as there are lots of large pieces for the backing, and a wealth of fabric for the top. Color and pattern are your choice, although we especially need quilts for adults - both male and female. We tend to have a surplus of children's colors and fabrics, and we give extra "baby" quilts to the New Born Project in Fort Bragg through our Fort Bragg members.
Many members complete quilts at home and bring them in finished, but we also have two day-long workshops each year in January and June, where members get together to work on Comfort Quilts and Quilts of Valor. You do not have to make the whole quilt yourself. If you don't have a quilt under construction, you are most welcome at the workshops as there is always work for helpful hands.
Join the fun, and make a valued contribution to our community - plan to attend the next Comfort Quilt Workshop.
